KKMA opens 5th Kidney Center in India
Kuwait
– The Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the
Kuwait
based social welfare organization of Indian nationals announced
launch of its fifth charitable Kidney Dialysis Center (KDC) in Kasaragod,
Kerala
State of India.

The KDC opened in Carewell
Hospital at Kasaragod is a part of
KKMA’s visionary project to have one such center in each district of Kerala
State, India.
The first of its kind center was opened at IQRAA International
Hospital and
Research
Center in the city of Calicut in June 2006.
In following years, three more centers were established in Trichur
and Malappuram districts of Kerala and one in Mangalore,
Karnataka State.
Mr. K.P. Rajendran, minister for Revenue, Kerala State
on Friday, December 18th 2009, inaugurated the event held in this connection
at
Carewell Hospital.
He commended the exemplary social
change projects of KKMA. The Association, despite being an organization of
ordinary Indian nationals, is able to come up with noble projects such as
charitable kidney centers, educational support programs, investment and
saving opportunities, etc which is laudable and followed by other
organization, he said.


The Center was open to public by the chief guests from
Kuwait Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Shayeji, Chairman, Wared Finance Co.,
Kuwait
and Mr. Waleed Al Khashthi, CCR Manager, Zain Kuwait.
Mr. Al-Shayeji and Al Khashthi expressed their happiness to be part
of such a socially important project in India.
They both praised the organizations concern for the poor people and
thus coming up with such noble programs.
N.A. Muneer, president KKMA presided over the function.
KKMA vice chairmen Akbar Siddique, vice president Zubair Hajee,
Director for Investment PA Abdulla along with other officials were also
present. Speaking at the
inaugural function, KKMA officials explained that the joining hands with
Carewell Hospital will help KKMA to help needy
poor dialysis patients to have their dialysis procedures at minimal cost of
Rs. 500 or less per procedure.
A joint Management Supervisory Committee of KKMA and Carewell will look
after the day-to-day administration of the Center.

Dr. M.A. Mohamad Afazal, Director of Carewell Hospital thanked the KKMA
for establishing a charitable kidney center in the hospital and hoped that
the KDC will go a long way in helping the poor people. Several members of
KKMA who were on vacation in India along with
large number of well-wishers attended the function.
KKMA is the leading and the largest social welfare organization of Indian
nationals in Kuwait.
Renal Dialysis is the process of filtering and removing toxic waste
products from the blood when the kidneys malfunction or fail. Patients
typically receive dialysis treatment three times-a-week, each session
lasting an average of 3 to 5 hours.
